Youth Summer Gathering
This year’s annual Youth Summer Gathering brings li zhenn moond toot aansaamb (the youth all together) to connect with their Métis culture, community and each other. It will be a three-day weekend with foundational land-based cultural experiences taking place.
Through hands-on cultural workshops, land-based experiences, and time spent learning from Elders and Knowledge Keepers, youth will learn traditional Métis skills, strengthen their connection to culture and language, and build friendships that can last a lifetime.
What are the Goals?
Métis Nation–Saskatchewan puts forward programming for youth citizens that align with our distinct Métis culture. For the Youth Summer Gathering, our goals for youth are:
Learn from Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Provide opportunities for youth to learn traditional knowledge, stories, and skills from Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
Strengthen Cultural Identity
- Support youth in forming a deeper connection to their Métis culture, language, and identity. And to develop opportunities for mentorship through unique cultural experiences.
Language Revitalization
- To engage in language revitalization by providing immersive experiences that promote Métis languages
Build Meaningful Connections
- To enhance community engagement and connections, and foster collaboration amongst youth
What Will We Do?
- Storytelling with Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Hands-on traditional workshops
- Traditional games
- Language seminars
- Environmental stewardship

Who is Eligibile?
- Registered Métis citizen (or in the process of acquiring citizenship)
- Aged 16-29
Other Details:
Participants are required to submit a refundable $10 deposit upon registration. This deposit is returned at the end of the event to those who attend. This measure supports confirmed attendance and helps ensure the registered spots are being used.
