Funeral and Bereavement Support Program

Saying goodbye is never easy, and honouring our loved ones in the right way can come with financial burdens that bring added stress during an already difficult time. The Métis Nation–Saskatchewan Funeral and Bereavement program is here to provide relief, offering direct financial support to Métis families in Saskatchewan.

Registered MN–S citizens and family units are eligible for a one-time payment, up to $2,500 per family unit to help cover eligible expenses, such as:

• Travel and accommodation reimbursement for immediate family members attending a funeral service
• Transporting a loved one back to their home community
• Direct payments to funeral homes

The $2,500, including accommodation and travel reimbursement, is available to support the immediate family of the deceased. Immediate family members include parents, siblings, children, and partners/spouses, and can include non-Métis immediate family members. Métis sashes and/or urns can be made available to citizens/families upon request.
