Family Information Liaison Outreach

Métis Nation–Saskatchewan has a Métis-specific service for families of Missing and Murdered Women, Girls (MMIWG) and 2SLGBTQIA+ people. The Family Information Liaison Outreach provides Métis-specific trauma supports and is here to assist Métis citizens in obtaining information from public agencies. This can include determining healing processes that are catered to each family’s needs. FILO practices and protects our traditional protocols while working with families in a trauma-informed manner to support individuals, families and communities for mental wellness and healing. Through federal affiliation, FILO can maintain and extend services that are not limited to Saskatchewan. Liaison Unit Staff do not undertake or participate in open investigations, provide legal advice, or participate in legal proceedings.

FILO provides compassionate support to families at every stage, whether a loved one is missing, found safe, or tragically lost. This includes assistance during funerals, throughout the court process, and through ongoing aftercare. Registered MN–S Citizens can access FILO services directly. Families who are not yet registered can receive assistance from our FILO office to connect with Ma Famaii for registration services.
