Métis Nation–Saskatchewan offers a broad range of programs that support the well-being, growth, and self-determination of Métis citizens. Services span health and wellness, medical travel assistance, education supports from early learning to post-secondary, housing programs, and culturally grounded child and family initiatives. Economic development, language revitalization, and land-based learning also play a central role in empowering our people and preserving our heritage. Each program is rooted in Métis identity and designed to build stronger, more connected communities across the province. We ensure that citizens have the tools and support they need to thrive today and for generations to come.

MN-S ELCC Program - Child Care Subsidy Program

Child Care Subsidy Program

The MN-S Care Subsidy Program offers vital support for Métis families to access affordable childcare. Eligible families with children aged 0 to 12 years may see their childcare fees reduced to as low as $10 per day.

MN-S ELCC Program - Learning Support Specialist

Learning Support Specialist

Provides support for Métis families with children who have developmental, behavioral and/or learning needs. The LSS helps families access assessments, services, and funding, including assistance with Disability Tax Credit (DTC) applications. The Learning Support Specialist is a dedicated advocate for Métis families, working directly with parents, guardians, and community partners to ensure that children with learning needs receive the support they deserve.

MN-S ELCC Program - Maatawaytaak (Let’s Play) Program

Maatawaytaak (Let’s Play) Program

Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) offers the Maatawaytaak (Let’s Play) Reimbursement Program, designed to help cover the costs associated with extra-curricular activities.

Qualified families with Métis children aged 0-8 years old could be eligible for up to $500 per child/per program year to help cover costs associated with program fees, sports equipment or specialized clothing related to specific activities.

Amachiwayhaataak (Let’s Soar) Program

The MN–S Amachiwayhaataak (Let’s Soar) Program provides financial support to families of Métis children (age birth to 12).  Through this program, families can apply for financial support to assist with the cost of a wide range of services, programs and products, including occupational therapy, speech therapy, assessments, specialized equipment, and glasses.

Lii Bufloo Cultural Packages Program

The MN–S Lii Bufloo Cultural Packages Program is designed to enrich the lives of our youngest Métis citizens by fostering a deep connection to their culture, language, and heritage. Eligible families with children ages birth to 12 will receive two fun and interactive cultural packages each year, filled with activities, games and learning materials.

Lii Faamii School Break Childcare Program

This program provides support for Métis families needing childcare during school breaks. It helps cover costs for eligible childcare camps and childcare during the April, July, August, December, and February school breaks. Métis Nation–Saskatchewan is committed to helping Métis families thrive through accessible, meaningful programs that honour our culture and support our children. Qualified families with Métis children ages 5 to 12 can apply for support to ensure their children have access to safe, enriching, and culturally rooted care.

Little Buffalo Reader Program

The MN–S Little Buffalo Reader Program is a literacy program designed to support and empower our youngest generation of Métis children. Qualified families with children aged birth to 4 years old are eligible to receive free age-appropriate books each month until their 5th birthday.

Métis Family Childcare Support

The Early Learning and Child Care Department is dedicated tos upporting both aspiring and experienced childcare providers as they navigate the worold of regulated family childcare. We offer a variety of services, including mentorship, one-on-one support through online and in-person meetings, and comprehensive guidance throughout the Ministry of Saskatchewan application process.

MN-S Education Program - Kaashkitamaashoohk (Graduation Sash) Program

Kaashkitamaashoohk (Graduation Sash) Program

Graduation is a pivotal time in any student’s life. The Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) Kaashkitamaashoohk (earning it through effort) Graduation Sash Program wants to celebrate academic success by gifting special, commemorative sashes to our citizens graduating in the September 1, 2025 – August 31, 2026 program year. The goal of the program is to encourage youth to demonstrate their Métis pride by wearing the commemorative sash during 2026 graduation ceremonies.

Funeral and Bereavement Support Program

Saying goodbye is never easy, and honouring our loved ones in the right way can come with financial burdens that bring added stress during an already difficult time. The MN–S Funeral and Bereavement Program supports eligible Métis citizens with direct financial support for eligible expenses associated with funerals.

The MN–S Medical Travel Assistance Program is available to eligible Métis citizens living in rural, remote and urban areas to access necessary medical care outside home communities. This may include medical, cancer or dialysis appointments. The program offers support such as reimbursement of fuel costs, accommodation support and a healthy food allowance.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy Program

Trying to quit smoking or vaping is a challenge for anyone. It’s a hard habit to break and cessation therapies and treatments are expensive. Métis Nation–Saskatchewan wants to help Métis citizens get over the hurdles they face on the road to a better lifestyle. The Nicotine Replacement Therapy is a program designed to help citizens access effective smoking reduction medicines and therapies and reimburse a portion of the associated costs.

MN-S Housing Program - Coordinated Access

Coordinated Access

Coordinated Access is funded through Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy. Saskatoon Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) is the agreement holder for Coordinated Access and Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) is the lead entity, responsible for the implementation and operation of Coordinated Access in Saskatoon. Coordinated Access is designed to help make it easier for individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness to access needed housing and support in a timely manner.

The MN–S Disability Adaptation Program provides financial support to eligible Métis citizens in Saskatchewan who require home modifications to improve accessibility, safety, and independent living. The program is intended for Métis citizens with disabilities or seniors who need physical adaptations to remain in their homes comfortably and safely.

The MN–S Emergency Repairs Program provides a one-time, indirect grant to eligible Métis citizens in need of emergency repairs in their homes. It helps cover costs such as heating sources, roofing, or hot water heaters.

First Time Home Buyers Program

The MN–S First-Time Home Buyers’ program assists eligible Métis citizens with a contribution of $15,000 toward the down payment of a new home. A further $2,500 is available to help cover closing costs. The program is a one-time-only opportunity for citizens across Saskatchewan.

Point in Time

Métis Nation–Saskatchewan asked communities across the province to join us in a Point in Time Count. These 24-hour, focused surveys have helped establish a snapshot of the homelessness crisis in Saskatchewan in real-time. The Ministry of Housing & Homelessness has compiled the results and put together a series of regional reports.
