The Maatawaytaak (Let's Play) Program helps Métis families pay for activities and equipment that help children learn, grow, and stay active.

The program can help cover the cost of:

  • Sports and skill-building activities
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs
  • Arts programs such as music, dance, drama, and visual arts
  • Recreational passes
  • Cultural activities such as beading
  • Equipment, including early learning items such as strollers, activity tables, ride on toys and other approved equipment

Families can receive support through reimbursement or by having approved items purchased directly.

Application Deadline: February 28, 2027

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The child must be birth to 12 years old. The child will become ineligible as of their 13th birthday.
  • The child must be an MN–S citizen or be in the process of acquiring citizenship and must not have applied for First Nation status. Citizenship Information

Payment Process

Whenever possible, payments will be made directly to the sport or activity organization. If direct payment to the vendor is not available, eligible families may receive reimbursement upon providing valid proof of payment, such as a receipt or enrollment confirmation.

Please Note: Recipients of the subsidy may be subject to applicable taxes on the amounts received. This may affect Income Supplement programs. T4As will be issued to the parent/guardian listed on the application.
