Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) to partner with community on Point in Time

Homelessness continues to be a crisis in Saskatchewan. A Point in Time (PiT) Count is a 24-hour community snapshot to gauge the level in specific centres.

A part of the Reaching Home program, the MN–S government conducted its first count through community organizations, indicating homelessness is not limited to urban centres.

The 13 rural centre count found that, of the individuals surveyed:

• 52% were male
• 42% were female
• 16% were youth
• 43% were First Nations
• 23% were Métis
• 18% have Indigenous ancestry

This year, MN–S is looking for 17 organizations to conduct the PiT Count enumeration consisting of 3 questions. step up in communities across the province:

Successful applicants will be notified by the 24th. There are mandatory information sessions Thursday, August 27 and Friday, August 28.
